Service description
Digrules is an excavation risk assessment tool that returns a named, cited list of applicable damage-prevention practices and regulatory requirements based on the user's description of a planned excavation. The tool is provided as a demonstration and informational resource.
Not a substitute for professional advice
Digrules is NOT a substitute for calling 811, NOT a locate request, and NOT engineering or legal advice. The output of this tool is a computed list of practices that may apply based on the input provided. It does not replace the judgment of qualified professionals, facility owners, or regulatory authorities. Always consult the applicable one-call center and facility owners before excavating.
No assurance of completeness
The rule engine checks a defined set of practices from the Common Ground Alliance Best Practices, OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P, and selected state one-call laws. Requirements vary by state, local jurisdiction, and facility owner. The tool may not identify every requirement that applies to a specific dig site. The absence of a requirement in the tool's output does not mean the requirement does not apply.
No liability
This tool is provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. The operator disclaims all liability for any damages arising from the use or reliance on the information provided by this tool. Excavation decisions must be based on the judgment of qualified professionals and the requirements of applicable law, not on the output of this demonstration tool.
User responsibilities
- You must call 811 at least 2 business days before any planned excavation to request a locate ticket.
- You must not excavate until all facilities in the excavation area have been marked on-site.
- You must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding excavation safety and damage prevention.
- You must not use this tool as the sole basis for a safety decision regarding any excavation.
No accounts or stored data
Digrules does not offer user accounts, does not store excavation data server-side, and does not send email. No user registration is required. No user data is retained after a request completes.
Billing
Current status
The Digrules excavation assessment tool is free. No payment or credit card is required to use it. No subscription fees are charged. There are no paid plans — the complete product is free to all users.
Intellectual property
The content, design, and code of this website are provided as a demonstration. The regulatory references cited (CGA Best Practices, OSHA standards, state one-call laws) are publicly available information owned by their respective publishers. No claim of ownership is made over public regulatory content.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated when a legal entity is registered and formally adopts them. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.
Governing law and jurisdiction
